Join us for a thought-provoking conversation on the future of design, sustainability, and architectural culture with architect Koichi Takada and design historian Daniella Ohad. 

This dialogue is inspired by Takada’s second monograph, Koichi Takada: Naturalizing Architecture, which advances his nature-led architecture as a regenerative model for shaping a bright future. 

Tickets for the talk are $25 each. For a combined ticket price of $100, attendees may also purchase a copy of Takada’s monograph, which will be signed by the architect following the conversation.

About the speakers

Koichi Takada belongs to a new generation of architects that strive to return nature to the urban environment. A refined Japanese sensibility informs the architectural designs of his practice based in Sydney, Australia. Takada’s architecture reconnects humans to the natural environment, drawing inspiration from organic forms and local contexts. Significant projects include Arc (Sydney, Australia), National Museum of Qatar Gift Shops (Doha, Qatar), Solar Trees Marketplace (Shanghai, China), Sunflower House (Le Marche, Italy) Norfolk (Burleigh Heads, Australia), Upper House (South Brisbane, Australia), Urban Forest (Brisbane, Australia) and Mamsha Palm (Saadiyat Island, UAE). 

Daniella Ohad is a design historian, connoisseur, educator, curator, writer, talk show host, and influencer, who received her PhD degree from the Bard Graduate Center. Her commitment to modern design history includes extensive work in education in the fields of design culture; history and theory; interiors; material culture; collecting and connoisseurship; and the decorative arts. Her writings and critiques have been published in magazines and peer-review journals, helping to raise awareness of the significance of modern and contemporary design as cultural markers. Her podcast Designing the 21st Century presents visionary and influential figures who have shaped the design of the zeitgeist. She lives and works in New York City.
