Title: Mabel and Alix Year: 2020 Materials: various fabrics
I learned how to sew a few years ago, and have been making quilts and clothing for myself ever since. When COVID hit, I also began making masks. Needless to say, I had many fabric scraps leftover and decided they were too beautiful to discard. So, I used them to make fabric art. My mother and grandparents are from Haiti, and I wanted to honor them in these pieces. The piece is entitled, Mabel and Alix, and it is a fabric portrait of my grandparents in Haiti.
