Title: Covid Blues Year: 2020 Materials: Assorted fabrics
This is my “Covid Blues” quilt. It started out as small random patches made only from fabric I had at home during quarantine. It was a meditation for me to work on it. I was teaching remotely when I started it, and was extremely stressed and on the computer all the time. I needed a mental and physical break from the screen. I accumulated A LOT of patches, and started placing them to create the quilt top. I added in some fabrics I had dyed to balance out the patches. My daughter hand tied the quilting, and it was gifted to my son, who had bought a home, but couldn’t move in because of the pandemic. So, this quilt became meaningful on many levels.
