Emily Thatcher is a jeweler based in Sheffield, England. The abundance of diversity found in nature drives her varied design process. The natural world, especially at a cellular level, inspires the elegance of form found in her jewelry, with each piece finding its own voice within her distinctive style. Using traditional hand-fabrication techniques and utilizing both stone and precious metal, Thatcher draws the eye to and around the designs, to explore both negative and positive space. She selects unique gem material for each design, working to expose the honesty of the stone—the inclusions and fractures, responding to these innate characteristics rather than neglecting them.
