Deborah Tseng is a London-based Taiwanese designer and artist who works with precious metals and porcelain. Her diverse background led her to find inspiration in repetition, transformation, time, and the minutiae of the world around her. She combines an extensive education in craft with traditions and ideas from a range of visual arts to make work inspired by the procession of nature—the formation of mountains, the flow of rivers and seas, the gathering of clouds and fog—and the simultaneous independence and interdependence of all life and natural objects. Tseng uses color in monotone to create a subtle atmosphere that allows for interpretation and imagination. Her latest collection uses transparent and matte crystals combined with silver to produce slow changes of shadow. The careful creep of light and dark, night and day echoes the philosophy of her design.
