In the process of creating her jewelry, artist, painter, and designer Dominique Labordery connects the force of her materials with their forms, allowing the metal itself to guide her work while she observes the shapes that evolve through this process. Labordery was born in Belgium, where she studied jewelry design at the Karel de Grote Hogeschool in Antwerp. Inspired by the everyday, Labordery’s works feature a minimalist use of color and ornamentation. The resulting forms are deceptively simple, drawing the viewer into their subtle irregularities and their unexpected contrasts of light and texture. Labordery currently lives and works in Düsseldorf, Germany.
