Working from her workshop in West Yorkshire, England, Antonella Giomarelli creates contemporary jewelry in silver and gold, specializing in limited edition collections, unique one-off pieces and private commissions. Her work is inspired by her observations of everyday minutia—she discovers beauty in the banal, and reinterprets familiar objects that are often overlooked. A tattered strip of plastic parcel strap, a lonely knot of string or a delicate wrap of thread become monuments to their former selves. To wear these castoff and forgotten objects as jewelry acknowledges the presence of beauty in the most unremarkable places—what was once invisible to us becomes an object of intrigue. By creating this romantic narrative, Giomarelli hopes to show the value in the most ordinary and everyday aspects of life. She graduated with first-class honors in metalwork and jewelry from Sheffield Hallam University.
