The work of emerging jeweler David Choi introduces its wearers to a rich depth of volume and dimension. His handcrafted faceting connects the owner with the art, bridging the gap between jewelry and wearable sculpture. Choi likes to examine the way the monotony of different planes can generate a whole series of exciting structures. When creating volume, he explores the interplay between negative and positive space, the juxtaposition between inside and outside, and the seamless relationship between order and chaos. The resulting surfaces are undulated, intertwined and creased. Choi received his MFA from the State University of New York at New Paltz, and currently resides in Chicago.
