Originally from West Yorkshire, England, Stacey Bentley lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland. Bentley has long been fascinated by the intensity of color produced by enameling, and began her research in industrial enamel in contemporary jewelry design while still at the Edinburgh College of Art. Not only does enamel allow her to make a bold, bright statement collection on industrial iron wires, but it can also create a more delicate and elegant aesthetic on fine, hand-forged silver and 18-carat gold wire. Bentley aims to generate a fusion of the traditional and the contemporary. The urban landscape is an important source of inspiration, and various patterns and structures from the Edinburgh cityscape inform her bold, tactile, sculptural forms. Her experimental approach allows for a combination of enameling techniques, and she elegantly mixes industrial materials with silver, 18-carat gold and semiprecious stones.
