Rita Soto
Chilean jewelry artist and industrial designer Rita Soto learned her craft from her father, and her practice combines tradition and artisan know-how with local raw materials and contemporary art. She makes her jewelry using the horsehair micro-basketry technique, unique and traditional to Chile. Soto explores her raw material in a slow, tactile process of folding and wrapping, constructing and deconstructing, weaving a conversation between fibers and technique, between history and identity, between daily life and imagination.
