Born in Foligno, Italy, Mario Salvucci designed jewelry for more than 30 years, first in Italy and then in the United States. His continual investigation into new materials led him to expand his creative practice into fabrics and interior design. Following travels and collaborations in the Philippines and India, he launched Progetto Lanterne with a show of lamps and photos in 1999 and created Kuri, a collection of shawls made from Tussar silk, the following year. Upon returning to Italy, he embarked on the new Progetto Lanterne with a limited-edition series of lamp prototypes, and after experimenting with different materials, he utilized laser-cut aluminum to create his “electric flowers.” In 2011, he returned to his first love—jewelry—and launched the collection “Incredible Creatures.”
