Born in Rome and raised in Salerno, Italy, Giulia Barela earned a law degree and embarked on a successful career in international relations. Drawn to more creative endeavors, and having grown up surrounded by women who owned and wore precious baubles, she started to design and create her own jewelry while simultaneously mastering a complex creative and production process. She began by learning the ancient sculptural technique of lost-wax casting, working first in bronze for its inherent sculptural quality, then in silver for its ever-changing light. Barela has created collections inspired by Rome, Milan, Paris, and London. Each piece is handcrafted and signed.
