Karola Torkos
Born in Germany, Karola Torkos focuses on creating jewelry that is variable and reversible. She wants people who wear her designs to not simply display them as they find them, but to interact with each piece by manipulating its appearance. Her creations range from models of simple, clean lines to opulent, colorful adornments that are akin to drawing on the body. This opportunity for creative interaction with the jewelry effectively hands the final step of the design process to the wearer, allowing a more personal relationship with the design. Torkos holds a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art in London and studied with Dorothea Prühl. After a decade of working, teaching, and living in London, she returned to Germany, where she is now based.
