Kristin Urup creates jewelry in precious metals and colorful gemstones. Her jewelry reflects her interest in the natural world, from tiny seeds and leaves of grass to cumulus clouds that fill the summer sky. Educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Urup has worked for many years as an architect and designer in Copenhagen, and her jewelry varies from free organic shapes to precise geometrical forms, simple and spatial, like small pieces of architecture—each a miniature sculpture for one’s neck, arm, or finger. Each piece is handmade and unique, and each tells a story. Urup has a deep understanding of all the materials she works with; her jewelry is at once elegant, dynamic, experimental, and wearable.
