Hye Jung Sin
Hye Jung Sin is a South Korean jewelry artist working in metal, with a passion for oriental painting and calligraphy. The theme of her work is nature, which she calls “a language of humankind that is absolutely free from the borders of regions and cultures,” and whose beauty she views as inseparable from human art. Her jewelry has focused on the creation and destruction of nature, on the one hand, and its formative features, on the other. She first translates the infinitely free structures found in nature into the inherent coldness of metal, then re-forms the metal to give it a warm, spontaneous, poetically natural appearance. In this way nature is reborn free, flexible, and strong, like the brushstrokes of a master calligrapher.
