Evgeniia Balashova
Evgeniia Balashova is a Russian-born contemporary jewelry designer and maker based in Glasgow. Her jewelry is a quest for harmony between chaos and order. Balashova creates her unique pieces using a combination of three-dimensional printing and traditional hand skills, bringing strict geometry and smooth organic flow together in captivating compositions. Inspired by repetitive patterns and shapes found in everyday life, she takes these out of their natural environment and transforms them into grid-like structures using 3D modeling software; through further manipulation, she gives the grids volume and vibrancy, turning simple geometric shapes into dynamic objects. Her practice explores the boundaries and material possibilities of 3D-printed nylon, which she combines with precious metals, creating a careful balance between two contrasting materials.
