Apinya Oo Boonprakob
Thai artist Apinya Oo Boonprakob sees jewelry as a lens through which to view individual and societal beliefs. In her practice, she seeks out a bond between humans and their possessions. Boonprakob’s making process combines both deep knowledge of and spontaneous responses to the selected materials. Her recent collection “Eternally Yours,” comprising one-of-a-kind pieces ranging from a mini-brooch to a statement neckpiece, explores the shifting relationships between object and human, and asks what makes a thing worthless or valuable. Through deconstruction and reconstruction, a discarded textile stamping tool becomes a piece of jewelry, to be loved and cherished.
