Born in Guatemala and based in Brooklyn, Andrea Rosales-Balcarcel is a recent graduate of Pratt Institute. While working toward her degree in jewelry, she devoted her time to exploring and engaging with the vibrant city of New York, and discovered a fascination with documentation as a means to ground herself in her surroundings. She developed this concept through the act of walking and exploration, collecting sketches, photographs, and objects along the way, which she later enveloped into her work. She continues to map herself to her immediate surroundings through a documentation of tangible objects and sights, which she weaves into her work.
