Åse-Marit Thorbjørnsrud lives and works in the countryside, and is very preoccupied with nature and the many species that exist there. Her recent series, Nests, was inspired by wasps' nests and their impressive construction. In these pieces Thorbjørnsrud focuses on how light is caught, amplified and shifted by movement. She works with repetition, light and shadow. Silver is her preferred material, in part because of all of the color variations that exist in and can be applied to this metal. Her past works have entailed her own silver folding technique, inspired by origami.
