Melania La Via
Melania La Via (Italy) founded Textile Art Studio in 2003 to pursue her enduring passion for lace, embroidery, fine fabrics, and all forms of creation shaped by thread. She devoted herself to an in-depth study of historical and contemporary textiles, consulting ancient manuals preserved in libraries and bookshops while observing and restoring works of art. To expand her practice, La Via pursued advanced training in goldsmithing, attending courses at the Scuola Orafa Ambrosiana in Milan, the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, and private workshops with master goldsmiths in Rome and Trapani.
Her diverse collections span jewelry, furniture, and clothing, combining complex techniques to produce original works with an antique yet distinctly contemporary sensibility. Deeply inspired by her native Sicily, her creations reflect a rich artisanal heritage passed down through generations. La Via’s work has been recognized within high-end artisan circles and presented at leading international fairs dedicated to art and craftsmanship. She has also been included in the Homo Faber, Well Made, and Made in Europe circuits for excellence in contemporary craft.
