Ülle Kõuts
Ülle Kõuts (Estonia) employs a technique she poetically calls the “Marriage of Metals,” combining materials such as silver, new silver, and copper to create subtle surface patterns of stripes and dots. Her work unfolds across two interconnected lines: wearable jewelry and exhibition pieces, the latter often serving as conceptual studies that inform future wearable series. Her process is deliberate and methodical, approached step by step and likened to walking a straight path.
Kõuts graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts in 1980 with a degree in jewelry design and is a member of the Estonian Artists’ Union. Her daily practice takes place at the Katariina Guild Jewelry Studio, where she designs and handcrafts her work. Her work has been exhibited throughout Estonia, Europe, and the United States, and her practice is guided by a lasting joy in creation that brings focus, clarity, and quiet intensity to her jewelry.
