Fanni Király
Fanni Király (Hungary) is a jewelry artist whose practice is rooted in material experimentation and poetic reflection. She earned her MA in metalwork and jewelry design from the University of Art and Design Budapest and has exhibited her work in twenty-two countries worldwide. Since 2006, Király has developed her signature parchment-stretching technique using untanned goat leather, building five distinct series that explore its ethereal, translucent, and richly colored qualities. These delicate surfaces are anchored by wax-cast silver elements, creating a dynamic interplay between fragility and structure.
Inspired by haiku poetry and the natural world, her work often reflects immersive landscapes, most recently in her series Forest. She evokes what she describes as “a green cathedral,” recalling pale purple mushroom shells, decaying stumps, and birdsong in the canopy. Through her jewelry, Király offers wearable vessels of memory, objects that carry moods, sensations, and gratitude into everyday life.
