David Asenjo
An architect based in Madrid, David Asenjo makes contemporary artistic jewelry with a focus on design. He creates his pieces as small-scale sculptures, exploring shape, volume, and the play between light and shadow; many of his works incorporate color and a variety of textures. He looks for movement in the way the jewelry interacts with its surroundings, creating volumes that change according to the angle of view and the incidence of light. Asenjo designs his pieces to be lightweight and uses varied materials, particularly polyurethane resins, silicones, and, lately, Japanese paper thread reinforced with a hardening compound. He is partial to rustic finishes that make visible the traces of the tools he has used, such that the process is recorded in the work itself.
David Asenjo is part of Lalabeyou Gallery in Madrid, a group showing together at MAD About Jewelry.
