William Warmus: Glass as High Art from Tutankhamen to Koons

Sat, Apr 21 / 3 pm

Glass has been used as a medium for art since ancient times, but it was only in the 20th century that it became available to fine artists working in their own studios. This lecture celebrates the 50th anniversary of the America Studio Glass movement by looking at how artists like Kiki Smith, Jeff Koons, Liza Lou and Jamie Carpenter have transformed the role of glass in art.

William Warmus is an independent curator and critic. The author of over a dozen books, he was curator of Modern Glass at the Corning Museum of Glass and is on the board of Urban Glass.

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
