ensæmble’s installation at the Samuji Store in Nolita was made in conjunction with the designers’ newly commissioned installation INSIDE on view as part of MAD’s exhibition fashion after Fashion exhibition.
In INSIDE, ensæmble draws attention to the inside of garments, studying their hidden structures, volumes, and details—not just their external appearance. In doing so, they highlight the messy, fluid, visceral, and unpredictable process of wearing fashion.
Helsinki-based Alisa Närvänen and Elina Peltonen work collaboratively on creative projects, concept design, and research under the name ensæmble. The starting point for their practice is always the body: its intimate relationship with garments and surroundings.
ensæmble’s Samuji Store installation is presented by The Finnish Cultural Institute in New York and Samuji.
