Design Happy Hour: No-Sew Fashion with Kazue Taguchi

Thu, Mar 28, 2024

Join Artist Studios alum Kazue Taguchi for an evening workshop and open bar of wine, beer and refreshments. Participants will cut and redesign t-shirts into custom tops, bags and accessories using no-sew methods.  All materials will be provided and everyone is welcome to bring their own shirts to recycle.

Design Happy Hour invites the public to explore design techniques with some of the city's most exciting makers and creatives. All activities take place in the Museum's studio classroom.

About the artist

Kazue Taguchi explores the ethereal and intangible effects of light and reflection. Inspired by stained glass windows in European churches, Taguchi works with reflective materials including glass, mirrors, plastic, and light. Her work explores the various qualities of light and features a complex interplay of reflections and shadows.

Taguchi has been a resident artist at the Museum of Arts and Design, Corning Museum of Glass, Pilchuck Glass School, Cité Internationale des Arts Paris, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, the Newark Museum, Vermont Studio Center, and Koganecho Bazaar in Yokohama, Japan. She received an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University, a BFA at Joshibi University of Art and Design in Japan, and has studied at the Barcelona Glass Foundation.
