In conjunction with Douriean Fletcher: Jewelry of the Afrofuture, MAD will present a special screening of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther (2018), directed by Ryan Coogler. The screening will feature an exclusive digital introduction by the artist and jewelry designer Douriean Fletcher, whose boldly sculptural adornments helped shape the visual world of the Black Panther franchise. Fletcher will speak on how she first became involved with the franchise, her studio process, and how adornments contribute to character development in film.

Synopsis

A superhero known as Black Panther defends Wakanda, a technologically advanced country in Africa that has hidden itself away from the rest of the world. Now, he must face a dissident who wants to sell the country's natural resources to fund an uprising.
