Art Alive in Tabernacles for Trying Times

Sat, Jul 10, 2021

Join us for Art Alive, a drop-in gallery visit and art-making experience for general audiences that takes place every Saturday and Sunday. This Saturday, artist-educator Angelica Pomar will be on the floor of Carrie Moyer and Sheila Pepe: Tabernacles for Trying Times facilitating discussions of Carrie Moyer's Curtains. Visitors will also be invited to participate in an art-making project inspired by the exhibition.

Art Alive is free with museum admission and open to all ages. Discussions and activities are ongoing, so visitors can join at any time between 12 and 2 pm and stay as long as they like. The program is offered in accordance with the Museum’s safe social-distancing practices.

About the artist-educator

Angelica Pomar is MAD’s artist-educator and programs assistant who has curated programs for a wide variety of audiences, from academic and college audiences to participants in workshops and lecture events. In Pomar’s practice, art is a tool used for social change, and to uplift artists who are often underrepresented through programming and education. Pomar has previously worked with institutions like the Whitney Museum, New York Historical Society, SOHO20 Art Gallery, and the Kupferberg Holocaust Center. She holds an honors BS in Art History and Museum Professions from the Fashion Institute for Technology, and a AS in Gallery and Museum Studies from Queensborough Community College.

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
