This fall, the Museum of Arts and Design presents OUT at the Movies, a cinema series to accompany the exhibition OUT of the Jewelry Box. Inspired by the exhibition's focus on queer perspectives expressed in art jewelry, the series draws attention to the role of film in the construction of LGBTQ+ stories. The exhibition's experimental appproaches to art jewelry and themes of Affirmations of Queer Desire, Contemporary Events and Issues, Imaginary Worlds and Wonderous Forms are mirrored in the selected films. Screenings will be accompanied by Q&A with guest speakers including directors, film crew, and film historians.
