Through making jewelry, Colombian designer Virginia Escobar discovered a different way to communicate. She is captivated by the idea of being able to speak without saying a word through the language of adornment. Her primary sources of inspiration are the feelings and emotions that she experiences at specific moments of her life—she follows instinct and sensation, rather than reason or knowledge, creating pieces that are derived from her intuition. She likes to work with a variety of materials, but she is always particularly seduced by silver. Escobar was an attorney and received her MBA before entering into two years of technical silversmith study and taking courses at Alchimia Contemporary Jewelry School in Florence, Italy. She lives and works in Bogota, Colombia.
