Houston-based designer Mariquita Masterson creates handmade glass pieces that are vivid, unique, and energetic, and that unite the everyday with the exceptional. The idea for her timeless designs came to Masterson while working with a glassblower to design a table setting for a museum gala. When she saw the chunks of crystal ready to be fired, she realized the material’s potential to make beautiful jewelry, set in silver and vermeil. Masterson uses both recycled glass and glass from companies that produce a variety of colors and textures, and on occasion creates stunning pieces out of the fragments of broken antique vases.
