Jen Neame-Collins
An English artist based in the southwest of France, Jen Neame-Collins uses papier-mâché as her medium for creating one-off decorative pieces. She designs and creates each piece individually, starting with layers of paper cut into shape and glued together, adding background color and patterns with gold, silver, or copper leaf, layering on further color and pattern, and finishing with coats of waterproof varnish. The result is both durable and lightweight. Neame-Collins finds inspiration everywhere, from Renaissance art to vintage postcards to Dolly Parton, and says that her favorite words are “‘instinctive,’ ‘accidental,’ and ‘happenstance’—I never know where things might go, which makes it fun!”
