Inbar Shahak
A textile jeweler, Inbar Shahak is trained in fashion design, textile design, and goldsmith design. She takes her inspiration from traditional textile patterns and techniques, combining them with modern materials and manufacturing methods to achieve an updated, fashionable look. She started her practice using a German knitting book from 1929, from which she took crochet patterns, knitted them, and manipulated them with twisted sterling silver wire. Shahak notes that while certain textiles are more expensive than gold, we think of them as something that any child can easily tear apart. In contrast, her interest lies in the perception of textile as a timeless jewel.
