Heather Woof is a jewelry designer and maker based in Edinburgh, Scotland. She creates sculptural works on a miniature scale, working with non-traditional metals such as titanium and steel. These metals pose unique challenges to the jeweler, as they do not act in the same way as silver and gold, and Woof must therefore adopt inventive working methods. She seeks to exploit the unique qualities of these metals by making finely cut yet structurally strong pieces that capture a sense of fluidity. Her “windswept” collection was inspired by the wild Scottish weather, and is reminiscent of the powerful natural forces that shape the landscape around us. Working with hand-cut titanium and mild steel, she aims to evoke a sense of movement in these otherwise tough, static materials. She creates wearable pieces that appear to have been quite literally blown over by the wind.
