Daphne Krinos
Born in Greece, Daphne Krinos moved to London to study jewelry design and has since become one of the best-known studio jewelers in the United Kingdom. She has lived in cities all her life, and this is evident in her distinctive graphic work. Her jewelry reflects an interest in manmade structures—metal fences, scaffolding, buildings in various stages of development or decay—as well as street art and early animation. Metal is her language: mostly dark oxidized silver but also gold, with its hue reminiscent of the colors of summer in Greece. She often uses translucent semiprecious stones, sometimes with a slightly unusual cut or shape. Krinos believes jewelry is designed to be worn on the body and enjoys the limitations this imposes. All of her jewelry is made by hand in her studio.
