Chao-Hsien Kuo
Chao-Hsien Kuo lives and works in Lahti, Finland. Besides creating unique jewelry, she manages a contemporary jewelry brand - Chao & Eero, together with her Finnish husband, Eero Hintsanen. Kuo’s design ability has been well recognized in Finland, and she was invited to design for Lapponia Jewelry in 2006 as the brand’s first female designer. Her works have been exhibited around the world.
Kuo began to study metal work at Hofstra University in New York in 1993, and since then has found her passion in the field of jewelry. After she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts - jewelry and metal in 1996, she wanted to advance her skills in jewelry making, and her determination took her all the way to Finland. She did a post-graduate program in the School of Goldsmithing at the Lahti Institute of Design from 1997 to 1999. Upon the completion of the program, she also gained the Master Goldsmith certificate in Finland. After Kuo finished her studies in Lahti, she briefly went back to her home country, Taiwan, and worked as a watch designer. In 2000, she returned to Finland for further study, and earned her Master of Arts degree in Industrial Design from Aalto University in Helsinki in 2002.
