Wyna Liu is a New York–based artist, jewelry maker, and crossword puzzle constructor whose work combines digital fabrication with fussy hand-finishing techniques. Her silver jewelry is inspired by the structures and geometry found in nature. She is fascinated by the fact that these forms exist all around us, and that they are discovered, not created. For example, the scutoid—a solid geometric shape named after the scutellum, the triangular section on a beetle’s back—was only identified in 2018; its discovery marked a breakthrough in understanding how nature efficiently packs cells into three-dimensional structures. Her current collection celebrates these forms.
