Pinar Kaya De Biasio designs and makes handmade contemporary jewelry from her studio in central London. Almost all of the men in her family are traditional jewelers who considered this occupation a “man’s job,” and through her work, she is challenging that belief. De Biasio has a passion for metalwork and simple geometric forms, and her pieces are characterized by clean lines and unique textures. An advocate of the slow fashion movement, she is focused on reducing the impact of her practice by producing small batches of jewelry, using recycled materials and packaging, and cooperating with small family businesses for services such as gold plating, which cannot be performed at her studio.
