Based in West Islip, New York, Patricia Madeja is a studio jeweler, goldsmith, and educator who serves as Professor and Fine Arts Jewelry Coordinator at Pratt Institute. She derives inspiration for her wearable works predominantly from geometric forms and architectural structures, with gemstones occasionally serving as the catalyst for a piece. The elements of symmetry, balance, and proportion, in combination with minimally ornamented forms, are the essence of her design aesthetic. The current collection is fabricated in sterling silver or 14-karat or 18-karat gold, complemented by South Sea or cultured pearls and precious gemstones. The metal is finished with a high polish to accentuate the structures, reflect light, and gently soften the angular shapes. Each one-of-a-kind or limited-edition piece is individually handmade and signed.
