Neung Wi Kim
London-based contemporary jewelry designer Neung Wi Kim creates handcrafted symbols of well-being. Through tactility and visual effects, she seeks to connect the wearer with the intensity and sensation of her own lived experiences. Her current collection explores the materiality of pebbles she collected from beaches in England and South Korea. She cuts the stones to make explicit the value of personal narratives of relaxation, highlighting the power of a visit to the seashore. In doing so she offers a new way to consider the value of stones in contemporary jewelry. The artist asks: Why buy a mined stone when you can find and set your own?
