Gerda and Nikolai Monies met at a school for goldsmiths in 1973 and have been partners in business and life ever since. Known for their bold and extravagant designs, they are committed to bringing out the full potential of the materials they use. Each piece of bone, horn, stone, or other natural material has been given its own unique quality by nature’s hand. The art of the Monies’ craft is to bring these colors, textures, and shapes together into wearable artworks that radiate tranquility with a touch of magic. Their company, which celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 2023, recently entered its second generation under the leadership of their son Karl Monies, who now serves as creative director.
