A studio jeweler in Buffalo, New York, Aric Verrastro works in 3D-printed nylon and steel. His jewelry responds to the fabrication that pervades our world, from biologically enhanced food to our filtered existence on social media. He notes that even though we are fully conscious of, and generally active participants in, this fabrication, the beauty the veil creates seduces us. Inspired by photo trends on Instagram, Verrastro uses simple forms, floral imagery, and sparkly paint as devices to draw the viewer in. Each piece is constructed from mostly synthetic materials, to mirror the artificial nature of the veil.
