Join us for a two-hour online professional development workshop exploring modern and contemporary ceramic practices, then work on a clay project of your own. Associate curator Angelik Vizcarrondo-Laboy will kick off the afternoon with a presentation on the origins of Funk Ceramics in mid-century American craft practice and its rediscovery by contemporary artists. Following a virtual visit to Artist Studios alum Lauren Skelly Bailey’s ceramics studio, participants will be able to hone their own hand-building techniques during the hands-on portion of the workshop. Participants earn 2 hours of CTLE credit. A zoom link will be sent to all registered participants in advance of the meeting.
