The question "What is real?" is at the center of Otherwordly: Optical Delusions and Small Realities. In this workshop, we will explore the mysterious space where fact and fiction meet and the boundaries between the two begin to blur. Inspired by some of the works in the galleries, each participant will build an evocative, naturalistic (or deliberately artificial) miniature of either a landscape or interior scene on a piece of cardboard or within a box from a range of natural and repurposed materials. Once the sculpture is finished, s/he will take a photograph of it, using light, exposure, focus, etc. in order to manipulate the overall effect of the final image.
