Calling all K-12 educators! Join us for a full-day professional development workshop focusing on craft, history, and memory. The training will kick off with a keynote presentation by Burke Prize artist Tanda Francis whose work is currently on view at MAD in Burke Prize 2019. Conversations about memorials, public art, and whose stories they tell will guide our exploration of the exhibition. These themes will also inform the hands-on art-making workshop in the afternoon, where we will address curriculum connections and planning projects for classroom use.
MAD's teachers’ professional development workshops complement and expand upon educators’ existing knowledge of contemporary craft, art, and design. Led by artists, curators, and museum educators, these workshops are designed to help K–12 educators discover creative ways of interpreting and presenting fundamental concepts in all subject areas, using the visual arts as a bridge for comprehension.
