Middle School Portfolio Preparation

Sat, Sep 15, 2012

The Joan Mitchell Foundation Student Opportunities and Support Program, in collaboration with the Museum of Arts and Design, will be hosting a workshop series specifically designed for students planning to apply to New York City high schools specializing in the arts. The workshops provide an overview of the schools and individualized assessments of student portfolios. Students have the opportunity to hone their interviewing and communication skills, while strengthening their portfolios through drawing assignments and how-to demonstrations.

On Saturday, September 15, 2012, students will participate in hands-on workshops, portfolio reviews, inquiry-based discussion and activity. On this day parents will receive a tour of the current museum exhibition and have a discussion about the art-work represented.

Since space is limited, students must submit an application to participate in the series of four workshops.  Workshops take place Saturday, September 8, 15, 22, and November 3. Attendance to all four workshops is mandatory for both parents and students. Participates with be notified of their acceptance Friday, August 31st, 2012.

The application can be found in the toolbar to the right. Email your application to arted@joanmitchellfoundation.org
