The Joan Mitchell Foundation Student Opportunities and Support Program, in collaboration with the Museum of Arts and Design, will be hosting a workshop series specifically designed for students planning to apply to New York City high schools specializing in the arts. The workshops provide and overview of the schools and individualized assessments of student portfolios. Students have the opportunity to hone their interviewing and communication skills, while strengthening their portfolios through drawing assigments and how-to demonstrations.
On September 8th, students will participate in a hands-on workshop, portfolio reviews, and inquiry-based discussion and activity. On this day, parents will participate in an orientation.
Since space is limited, students must submit an application to participate in the series of four workshops. Workshops take place on Saturday, September 8, 15, 22, and November 3. Attendance to all four workshops is mandatory for both parents and students. Participants will be notified of their acceptance Friday, August 31st, 2012.
