Join artist-in-residence Amal Khan as she discusses her work and leads visitors through a monoprinting exercise using the kaffiyeh, a traditional Middle Eastern male headdress. Inspired by her own practice, Khan will discuss the kaffiyeh and its relation to gender, identity, and symbolism, and how she uses this object to make prints on paper by deconstructing the fabric. Visitors will experiment with texture, pattern, and different materials and colors to create a one-of-a-kind installation on the Museum’s 6th floor.
