Jewelry Through Movement Workshop

Mon, May 18 / 1:30–2:45 pm ET

Studio and contemporary art jewelry are rooted in sculptural experimentation and in the concept of art for the body. In this virtual meeting especially designed for people who are blind or partially sighted, we will explore selections from the exhibition 45 Stories in Jewelry: 1945 to Now  through movement and embodiment. The artists’ creative processes will inspire simple choreographic patterns and ways of moving. The program is free but registration is required. A secure zoom link will be sent to all registered participants in advance of the meeting.

Workshop facilitator Vassiliki Spachou is a performer, choreographer, and educator. A Fulbright Fellow in New York City, Spachou explores how somatic practices might lead to new ways of looking at art, of creating, and learning. She also has a degree in Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art.

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
