Join for the world premiere of the new film by Chris Woebken and Sascha Pohflepp, The House in the Sky.
Created over a nine-month residency at the Museum of Arts and Design, the film looks at the legacy of American think tanks of the Cold War era on today’s designers, artists and thinkers.
Using 3-D modeling to meticulously recreate the modernist home of Albert Wohlstetter—one of the first modern futurists and host of these early think-tank gatherings—The House in the Sky brings together some of today’s leading minds to consider our future. Assembled on this virtual stage, The House in the Sky expands notions of the documentary form to make visible how today’s think tanks exist across digital networks and frame by the legacy of the Cold War era.
Participants include Jacob Gaboury of NYU, Kevin Slavin of MIT Media Lab, Janna Levin of Columbia University, Nicola Masciandaro of CUNY, Claire Evans, author of New Art/Science Affinities and singer of Yacht, Gavin Schmidt Director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies and more.
